UKHRUL: The Kaishan Rungyond Naga (KRN) of the Naga Self-Administered Zone in Sagaing Division has issued a formal statement expressing deep anguish and concern over the Hongbei incident, in which one of its members, Sergeant Pahnle Ahlahpya, lost his life.
In a strongly worded letter signed by KRN chairman Shanjang Ahnoyah, the group described the incident as “troubling and unexplained loss” that undermines trust and discipline within the force.
The statement indicated that the killings may have taken place without clear justification or due process.

KRN leaders emphasized that the deceased had dedicated their lives to a greater cause, placing their faith in a system they now feel has failed them.
“To learn that their lives were taken under circumstances that remain unclear or unjustified raises serious moral, ethical, and institutional questions,” the statement read.
Calling for a transparent and comprehensive investigation, KRN raised four key questions for those in leadership:
1. What circumstances led to these internal acts of violence?
2. Were proper checks, safeguards, and military protocols followed before such actions were taken?
3. Who authorized these decisions, and what accountability measures are in place?
4. What systemic reforms are being introduced to prevent such incidents in the future?

KRN warned that any lack of clarity or accountability could erode the integrity of the force. It stressed that answers are owed not only to the bereaved families but also to personnel who continue to serve under the current leadership.
It demanded for an urgent, fair, and impartial inquiry, adding that the KRN expects a response commensurate with the gravity of the situation.
