Huge Liquor Consignment Seized at Indo-Myanmar border

UKHRUL: A huge consignment of illegal liquor was seized at Wanglee village under Kamjong District, Manipur, near the Indo-Myanmar border.

According to the sources, the liquor consignment amounting to approximately seven hundred litres was seized by the village womenfolk during routine checks in the village at around 12:00 AM today. The contraband items were being transported from Yairipok to Indo-Myanmar border villages on two gypsy vehicles. The seized items have been destroyed and burnt, the sources said.

The sources further explained that while the villagers were in the church holding a fast, the occupants of the gypsy vehicles were seen trying to open the village gate. Suspecting armed personnel trying to enter the village, the womenfolk sprang into action, leading to the seizure of the items.

However, the identities of the traffickers have not been ascertained as of the filing of this report.
