IMPHAL, AUG 22: People thronged to few oil filling stations of Imphal which sold fuel today as most filling stations in the state capital and greater Imphal areas have been either closed or displayed ‘fuel nil’ since the last two days.
The harsh situation came amid the public facing the acute shortage of cooking gas in the valley districts since the last many days.
Notably, the Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM) had suspended its indefinite bandh on August 21 which had been imposed since August 18 on National Highway – 37.Â
Many petroleum products carrying vehicles are reportedly stranded at various locations along the two national highways leading to Imphal due to bad road conditions.
Meanwhile, people were seen standing in long queues in front of the few filling stations – PCTC, Bakliwal Enterprise, Imo Filling Station and Ibetombi ksk Petrol Pump – where petrol and diesel were sold in the morning and afternoon. Similar scene has been witnessed even in the late night of Wednesday at a filling station at Uripok.
However, most filling stations along the Tiddim Road, Imphal-Dimapur Road, Imphal-Moreh Road, Imphal-Yairipok Road and Kongba Road among other locations in Imphal and greater Imphal were found either shut down or running out of stock.
On the other hand, there is no dearth of petrol and diesel in the black market in Imphal. The black marketeers sold petrol at Rs 120 to 140 per liter.
Apart from the shortage of fuel, the general public have also been enduring the scarcity of cooking gas in Imphal.
