According to ‘home comer’, Lance Corporal Mathiuchun Gangmei, son of Phenrong Gangmei from Rongdai Village in Longmei (Noney) District, a ZUF team of thirteen cadres, was picked up by Indian Security Forces from the main gate of Khoupum on March 19. They were then dropped off at Old Kaiphundai, Agro Mile, on the Imphal-Jiri Road (NH-37) to carry out an offensive attack against the NSCN outpost the next day, around 3-4 AM. The attack resulted in significant collateral damage to residential properties in Kaiphundai Village.
The ZUF (Jenchui) members involved in the attack included Major Kunglianglung (Kung), Lieutenant Amos, 2nd Lieutenant Angam, Sergeant Majors Guangsinduan and Thuagkungam, Corporal Ramthaingam, Lance Corporals Dingkam Zeme, Gaithuilung, and Mathiuchun, and three Privates.

The ‘home comer’ further stated that after a few minutes of heavy exchange of gunfire, they withdrew from the location due to a shortage of ammunition.
“I joined ZUF (Jenchui Group) with the intention of serving the Naga Nation; however, I deeply regret my decision upon realizing that I was following the wrong path. After becoming aware of the group’s sinister plans to incite bloodshed among the Naga brotherhood, I decided to leave the ZUF (Jenchui Group) and join the mainstream NSCN (GPRN) to serve the genuine cause of the Naga Nation. Accordingly, I joined the mainstream on April 6, 2026, in good health and with a clear conscience,” he reportedly stated.
He also expressed deep gratitude to NSCN’s competent authority for accepting him into the mainstream.
