Inter-District GHSS & GHS Tournament 2025 Kicks Off in Medziphema

Medziphema, March 25: The much-anticipated Inter-District GHSS & GHS Tournament 2025 was officially inaugurated today at Local Ground, Medziphema, under Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland. The tournament aims to foster sportsmanship and healthy competition among students from Government Higher Secondary Schools (GHSS) and Government High Schools (GHS) across Nagaland.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor for School Education & SCERT, inaugurated the tournament, emphasizing the importance of sports in education, discipline, and character building.
Addressing the gathering, he encouraged students to embrace sports as an essential part of their academic journey, highlighting its role in physical and mental development.

Dr. Yhome reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing Nagaland’s sports ecosystem, aiming to produce more Olympians in the coming years.

He mentioned ongoing efforts, including collaboration with the Union Sports Ministry to improve Khelo India centers, map play areas, and establish new training facilities across the state.

“These are small steps, but we hope to see many of you excel at the national and international levels,” he said, assuring state support for promising athletes.

The inaugural ceremony was chaired by Vitsolie Keyho, Physical Education Officer. The program began with an invocation prayer by Lhounyü Dolie, Youth Director, BCAMT, followed by a special performance from GHSS Medziphema.

The oath-taking ceremony was led by the Competition Director, after which the Chief Guest officially declared the tournament open.

The tournament will witness intense competition among students from various districts in multiple sports disciplines, fostering teamwork, unity, and excellence in sports.
