Inter-state Vehicle Theft Racket Kingpin Arrested; Six Stolen Vehicles Recovered in Manipur

CHURACHANDPUR: A joint team of Manipur Police and CRPF Sector QAT arrested the main kingpin of an inter-state vehicle theft racket based on requisition from the Crime Branch, Delhi Police. The accused, identified as Md Juma Khan, (39) of Yairipok Bishnunaha is a wanted offender in multiple serious cases, police sources said. 

The sources said that efforts are on to locate and recover stolen vehicles from different areas of the state as part of the ongoing drive based on specific inputs received from Delhi Police. The arrest of the kingpin is a big development which is likely to lead other state police and Insurance companies to take keen interest leading to more drives, the sources said.

In a related development, Manipur Police conducted a coordinated operation against an inter-state vehicle theft racket, based on specific inputs received from Delhi Police.

During the operation, with the assistance of ICICI Lombard Insurance Company and technical support, a total of six vehicles stolen from outside the state were recovered from Churachandpur and Imphal West districts. The recovered vehicles have been handed over to the concerned police stations following due legal procedures, and coordination with the originating states is underway for recovery formalities, police said.
