Briefing media at his residence on Saturday morning, CAF & PD Minister L. Susindro expressed disappointment that Ministers and MLAs are being targeted in the wake of the prevailing violence in the state. He said last night’s scuffle at Khurai occurred over allegations that he had rescued two Kuki informers. Minister L. Susindro said he, along with Lamlai MLA Kh. Ibomcha rushed to Sabungkhok in Lamlai constituency upon getting information that locals had detained two women suspected to be Kuki informers. But the two women were found to be innocent following an investigation by Sabungkhok Meira Paibi Club, COCOMI leaders and top officials of Manipur police.

The Minister further said he brought them to Imphal for treatment, but some locals blocked the road at Khurai Konsam Leikai in agitation, alleging him of rescuing the Kuki informers. Minister Susindro said the mob continued attacking his vehicle despite repeatedly clarifying that the two women were innocent. Hence, his escort opened fire to control the mob.

Lamlai MLA Kh. Ibomcha also backed the minister’s clarification and appealed to the public not to believe in rumours.
