Irate mob vandalises Th Brinda’s residence for accusing Arambai Tenggol of burning down Meitei houses

Imphal: Irate mob vandalised the residence of former Manipur ASP, Thounaojam Brinda, MPS at Yaiskul Janmasthan in Imphal West on Monday afternoon over her remarks involving Arambai Tenggol.

An audio clip of the former cop speaking to another man whom she referred to as “uncle” recently went viral on social media in which she alleged the Arambai Tenggol of burning down Meitei houses in Torbung, Bishnupur District on May 3, the day when Manipur violence erupted. Torbung United Club, TUC had given a deadline to Th. Brinda to issue a clarification and public apology within December 17.

Irate people of Torbung stormed Th. Brinda’s residence demanding public clarification and proofs for her allegations leveled against Arambai Tenggol but the former cop was not at her residence. The people expressed disappointment that she had ignored the deadline. The irate mob vandalised her house and remained adamant that she should appear before them and clarify herself.

As Th. Brinda failed to turned up, the people who had gathered there demanded clarification from her by Tuesday noon, warning of expelling her from the locality. Upon learning about the commotion, police immediately arrived to take stock of the situation.

Th. Brinda was accused of similar act few months ago when a video went viral in which she had accused Arambai Tenggol and Meetei Leepun of inciting Manipur violence. She had then tendered her apology after a mob stormed her residence. It is unclear whether the recent audio clip was from the previous incident or she made the call recently.
