Imphal: Janata Dal (United) Manipur unit on Wednesday suspended Kangabam Jadu Singh alias Jadumani, who contested the recently concluded elections to the Manipur Legislative Assembly on the party ticket, from its primary membership.
The suspension came barely a day after Jadu was arrested by the police along with a huge quantity of contraband WY tablets.
JD(U) Manipur unit president Ksh Biren, in a statement, said that Jadu has been suspended from the primary membership of the party based on the report that he was arrested by the police along with illegal drugs.

He has been suspended with immediate effect and until further order, the statement said.
Jadu was among the three members of an inter-state syndicate arrested by a team of Imphal West police commandos with 9.614 kgs of WY tablets, worth around Rs 4.4 crore in the international market on Monday evening.
Jadu contested the recently concluded elections to the Manipur Assembly from Wangkhem assembly constituency of Thoubal district on JD(U) ticket. He lost the elections to Congress candidate K Meghachandra.
