Chandel, August 27: Three children who went missing from Oriental Hostel, Hringphe under Chakpikarong in Chandel district on Monday evening have been found safe after a massive joint search involving local youth, Chandel Police, Assam Rifles and Border Security Force.
According to police, the children were first reported missing around 5:00 pm on August 25. Officer-in-Charge of Chakpikarong Police Station, Joy Martin, and his team immediately launched a search operation. On the following day, search teams scoured bus and auto stands, nearby villages and connecting routes, but the boys remained untraced.

By evening of August 26, under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Chandel, Dharmendra Tyagi, and with the active participation of local youth, village authorities, BSF (C-Coy 200) and Assam Rifles (Shaluk Post), a large joint combing operation was carried out. Around 9:20 pm, two of the boys were located in the jungle near Hringphe village, while the third fled deeper inside. Despite extensive efforts, he could not be traced that night.
The search resumed early the next morning around 5:00 am. The last missing boy was finally found near the Chakpi riverbank and safely brought back, police said.

All three children are now in the custody of Chakpikarong Police and have undergone medical examinations at PHC Chakpikarong. They will be handed over to the concerned authorities after completion of formalities.
“We remain deeply grateful to the local youth, women volunteers, village authorities, BSF, Assam Rifles, and all who stood by and extended their support throughout the search,” Chandel Police said.
