Justice Inevitable: ZUF-Kamson Warns Killers of Kesuthlungle

Imphal, August 27: The Kamson faction of the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has strongly condemned the “brutal murder of sister Kesuthlungle Newme” in Nagaland on April 7. The ZUF-Kamson said it vowed “relentless pursuit of justice” on the issue.

The ZUF-Kamson, in a statement issued today, expressed its strongest condemnation and deepest outrage over the “brutal, pre-planned, and cold-blooded killing of our beloved sister and mother, Kesuthlungle Newme (31), near the NSCN-IM Martyrs Park at Pimla village on April 7.” The statement also said this “inhuman and barbaric act” has not only taken away the life of an innocent woman but has deeply wounded the collective conscience of the Zeliangrong community.

The ZUF-Kamson said it considered this crime as an act of utmost cowardice and a direct challenge to the dignity and security of “our people.” The perpetrators have committed a heinous crime against humanity and cannot be allowed to roam free under the sky of Zeliangrong land, it added.

ZUF then issued a final and stern warning to all individuals, directly or indirectly involved in this conspiracy and killing, to surrender immediately before the ZUF court within the shortest possible time. Failure to comply will result in ZUF deploying every possible means to trace, expose, and capture the murderers, it also warned. There will be no safe haven, no hiding place, and no protection for the guilty, ZUF will pursue them relentlessly until justice is delivered, it added.

“This is not a mere statement; it is a solemn commitment to our people. The blood of our sister shall not be in vain. Justice for Kesuthlungle is not negotiable, it is inevitable,” the ZUF statement also said.

Despite repeated appeals by various Zeliangrong civil organizations to the state government of Nagaland and law enforcement agencies to uphold the law of the land and arrest the culprits, their persistent silence and failure to act reflect an alarming breakdown of justice, the ZUF also said. “This negligence is a betrayal of public trust and an insult to the voice of the people. The authorities have ignored the cries of the masses for far too long, forcing us to remind them that justice delayed is justice denied,” the statement added.

“Let it be clearly understood that the people’s voice is supreme above all institutions, whether government or private. If the law of the land continues to remain blind and deaf to the demands of justice, the people’s law will prevail. ZUF will not hesitate to exercise its authority to safeguard the dignity and security of our community,” the statement further said.

To all organizations, leaders, and right-thinking citizens, the ZUF-Kamson called to unite in solidarity for justice. “This is not just about one life lost; this is about ensuring that no such barbaric act ever occurs again in our land. Silence in the face of injustice is complicity,” it further added.

The Zeliangrong United Front then said it “stands committed to truth, justice, and the protection of our people. Let the guilty be warned, the sword of justice is above their heads.”
