“NPIP vehemently condemns this heinous act of violence and the senseless killing of unarmed and peace-loving individuals. Rev. Dr. Vumthang Sitlhou, former General Secretary of the Manipur Baptist Convention and current President of the Thadou Baptist Association, had been actively engaging in fostering harmony and dialogue among communities during these difficult times,” it stated.
NPIP also recalled with appreciation the goodwill meeting held with Rev Dr. V. Sitlhou and leaders of Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) on 21 March 2026 at Kangpokpi, during which he shared his experiences and efforts towards building peace and reconciliation, especially between the Naga and Kuki communities.

NPIP strongly urges the concerned authorities to ensure a thorough, impartial, and time-bound investigation so that those responsible for this barbaric act are identified and brought to justice. It also appeals to all communities, civil society organisations, and leaders to exercise utmost restraint and prevent any further escalation of violence.
“The people of Manipur have already endured enough senseless violence that has brought nothing but death, destruction, and suffering,” it stated, adding that NPIP stands in prayerful solidarity with the bereaved families and all those affected by this tragedy in this time of grief.
