Kangpokpi: The electoral machinery in Kangpokpi district is set for the crucial parliamentary elections scheduled for tomorrow, with voting set to commence at 7 am across 166 polling stations and 24 special polling stations. Notably, four of these special stations are designated for voters displaced from the I-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency. The voting process will conclude at 4 pm.
The district, comprising a total of 103,563 voters, including 51,184 male voters, 52,378 female voters, and one third-gender voter across the three Assembly segments of 46-Saikul (ST), 50-Kangpokpi, and 51-Saitu (ST), will participate in electing their representative for the II-Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency. Kangpokpi district also boasts 77 female-managed polling stations, reflecting a commitment to gender-inclusive electoral processes.
In preparation for the elections, today marked the completion of the second and final phase of deploying polling officials and security personnel, including Central Armed Police Forces and State Police. This deployment, coordinated from the dispersal center at Brigadier M Thomas Ground, ensures the smooth conduct of polling across the district.
Before the dispersal of polling parties, a crucial step was the opening of the strong room at LFC Hall, DC Complex, at 6 am. This process, conducted in the presence of the District Election team and representatives of various political parties, involved the meticulous transfer of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) machines to the dispersal center under tight security protocols.
Over 300 female polling officials, equipped with poll kits and materials, departed for their respective stations, accompanied by security personnel, reinforcing the commitment to a secure and efficient voting process.
