Kashong Timrawon Football Cup 2025

Ukhrul, May 21: To commemorate the 5th edition of the Shirui Lily Festival, the State of Manipur presents the Kashong Timrawon Cup 2025 (6-A-Side Football Tournament), an event organised by the Ukhrul District Sports Association (UDSA).

The football tournament was organised to promote peace, reconciliation, and to strengthen community ties, to build trust and foster community cohesion through the unifying power of football.

The football tournament, which kickstarted on 20 May 2025, is underway with great enthusiasm at Ramngashim Turf Ground, Lanaitang, Ukhrul, and will conclude on 24 May 2025.

Ngakuimi Awungshi of UDSA stated, “We are organising this tournament to promote football as well as to promote brotherhood and friendship within the state. A total of 16 teams from across the state of Manipur are participating in the ongoing football tournament. The winner of the Kashong Timrawon Cup will take home a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh and a cup, while the runners-up will receive Rs. 75,000. The two semi-finalists will get Rs. 25,000 each, and all the participating teams will be awarded Rs. 10,000 as a token of encouragement.”

For the first time, the Tourism Department of Manipur has entrusted UDSA to organise the tournament during the Shirui Lily Festival. An exhibition match between the Tourism Department and UDSA will be played on May 23 at 01:00 p.m., promising more excitement.

In the matches played on 20 May 2025, FC Avengers outclassed United Brothers FC by a score margin of 11-2. Ukhrul Rising FC defeated NERAU by a score of 12-2. Ukhrul FC defeated NESU by 13-1, and NCYWO defeated Changvei FC with a 6-3 scoreline.

On the second day of matches, Bull’s United defeated Fauji FC by 8-6. Rahee United FC defeated Tapuangcha FC 6-2. The Wanderers FC overcame Iconic Sporting Club by a score margin of 5-3, and Ruivah Brothers FA defeated Chandel Football Friends by 3-2.

Manager of Bull’s United, Poulangai Onruan, stated, “We are representing the Tamenglong District Sports Association. We are indeed very happy to be here and participating in the tournament. We are here to win, and I believe in my players. Not only winning, but more importantly, we are here for friendship and for the restoration of peace in Manipur through football. We are enjoying the scenic beauty of Ukhrul and their warm hospitality. Visit Ukhrul, and let us promote football even in the days to come.”

In the quarter-final matches to be played on 22 May 2025, FC Avengers will clash with Ukhrul FC at 11:00 a.m. Ukhrul Rising FC will play against NCYWO in the second quarter-final match at 12:20 p.m. Bull’s United will face The Wanderers FC at 01:40 p.m., and Rahee United FC will meet Ruivah Brothers FA at 03:00 p.m. at Ramngashim Turf Ground.
