KHRC Reiterates Demand for Separate Administration

UKHRUL: The Kuki Human Rights Council (KHRC) on Monday reiterated its demand for a separate administration for the Kuki community amid the ongoing conflict in Manipur.

The KHRC, in a statement, demanded the Centre to take immediate, concrete, and meaningful steps to address Kuki concerns and grant separate administration to ensure justice, peace, and stability in the region.

It stated that the devastating war between Kuki and Meitei communities in the state rages on unabated, with our innocent people bearing the absolute brunt of the mindless violence.

“The catastrophic situation is dire, with significant loss of precious lives, colossal destruction of property, massive displacement of thousands, and our community living in perpetual fear and uncertainty. There can be no genuine peace without justice,” KHRC stated.

Reiterating demand, the KHRC stated that they will not compromise or relent on their legitimate demand for justice, dignity, and separate administration.

“The KHRC and our resilient people stand unwaveringly firm: No peace, no resettlement, no popular government, and no free movement without separate administration for the Kuki community. We will not compromise or relent on our legitimate demand for justice, dignity, and separate administration. Our community’s patience is wearing thin, and our resolve for self-determination is stronger than ever,” KHRC stated.

It alleged that the Centre’s deliberate delay tactic policy on the Kuki demand for separate administration is a blatant human rights violation against minority tribals in India, a gross affront to the Indian constitutional rights and principles of justice.

“The blood and tragic loss of our beloved family members, brothers, and sisters at the hands of Manipur state forces and Meitei community will not go in vain. We will continue to fight for truth, justice, and our inherent rights,” KHRC stated, adding that they are prepared for the ultimate sacrifice for “their ancestral land, rights and dignity.”

“If the Indian government needs more lives, we are prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for our ancestral land, our rights, and our dignity. KHRC demands the Centre take immediate, concrete, and meaningful steps to address Kuki concerns and grant separate administration to ensure justice, peace, and stability in the region,” it added.
