The statement then said Manipur is not new to conflicts. “The state has witnessed many conflicts in the past, and we’re still recovering from them. The current conflict has worsened the lives of the common people, affecting business activity especially of the daily wage earners. It is affecting the education system, prospects and careers of students. If the conflict is not put to an end soon, the next generation will have many school/college dropouts and therefore, more goons will boom in our society,” the Union stated.

The statement also said the Liangmai women in general are saddened and heartbroken by the number of deaths, wounded and displaced people who have left the “comfort of their homes and struggling to survive in relief camps”. The Union then called on the government and the leaders of both the communities, to take necessary measures to stop the ongoing “ethnic clashes” and bring peace.
