The Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) Moreh Block has denounced the 20 Assam Rifles for allegedly obstructing transportation of medicines for chemists in Moreh.

In a statement, KSO said that they are very much against the illegal trading and smuggling of medicines along Imphal-Moreh road and appreciate the Assam Rifles for seizing smuggled medicines.

However, the organisation is also much against the frequent obstruction by the Assam Rifles in transporting medicines for chemists in Moreh.

Claiming that the Tengnoupal Battalion of 20 Assam Rifles had been obstructing medicine consignments which are purely meant for chemists in Moreh, it charged that the Moreh residents are facing scarcity of pharmaceutical drugs since the 20 AR deliberately block transportation of such medicines.

“It is well known that large consignments of medicines including Covid Testing Kits worth lakhs and crores of rupees were trafficked along the route, crossing the same security check points without any hindrance and there is no doubt that influential persons were also involved in the smuggling,” KSO said.

Further claiming that KSO received report about a particular shop in Moreh indulging in medicine smuggling by colluding with high ranking security officers and certain individuals trafficking oxygen concentrators and Covid testing kits, the KSO warned the chemist and traffickers to stop their activities at the earliest.

KSO will expose all the nexus if the warning is not heeded, it added.

The KSO further urged the 20 AR to not obstruct medicine consignments which are meant for chemists in Moreh.
