KANGPOKPI: The Kuki Film Development Association (KUFIDA) extended its condolences over the sudden and untimely passing of Kuki cinema director M Paoneo Haokip who passed away on Wednesday. He was 45.
M Paoneo Haokip, son of (L) Semkholun Haokip and Hatkholhing Haokip of Laloiphai, Sugnu, Chandel district was one of the most distinguished and influential directors in the history of Kuki cinema. He breathed his last on Wednesday morning around 8:00 am at Ideal Nursing Home, Canaan Veng, Tuibuong.
“M Paoneo Haokip was not just a director; he was a mentor to many aspiring actors and technicians. His body of work served as a mirror to our society, blending entertainment with profound social messages. His dedication to the craft and his tireless efforts to uplift Kuki cinema have left an indelible mark that will inspire generations to come,” KUFIDA said in its condolence message.

KUFIDA also stated that Haokip’s directorial vision played a monumental role in shaping the identity of their regional film industry, bringing their stories, culture, and aspirations to the silver screen with unmatched passion and technical excellence.
Terming the passing of M Paoneo Haokip a dark day for Kuki cinema, KUFIDA said, ” We have lost a titan, a creative genius, and a dear friend. His contribution to our culture through the medium of film is immeasurable.”
It extended its solidarity with the bereaved family.Â

“At this hour of immense grief, our thoughts and prayers are with his bereaved family. We stand in solidarity with them as we mourn the loss of a great soul. KUFIDA, on behalf of the entire film fraternity, conveys its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of the departed director. We pray that the Almighty grants them the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the condolence message read.Â
KUFIDA further announced that all scheduled KUFIDA activities and film-related events under their jurisdiction will remain suspended for a period of mourning as a mark of respect for the departed soul.
