Kuki Inpi Manipur Reaffirms Demand for Separate Administration

Published on

UKHRUL: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has expressed its appreciation for the Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and the United People’s Front (UPF) for firmly articulating the demand for a Union Territory with legislature during their ongoing dialogue with the Central Government.

In a press release issued on Sunday, KIM stated that the KNO and UPF have responsibly reflected the collective will, aspirations and long-standing political sentiments of the Kuki-Zo people by consistently raising the demand through democratic means.

The apex body of the Kuki tribes said the prolonged ethnic conflict in Manipur has created deep fractures that have made any meaningful reintegration with the Meitei community untenable. It said the immense suffering, displacement and losses endured by the Kuki-Zo people cannot be ignored or dismissed under the present circumstances.

Reiterating its stand, KIM asserted that the demand for a “separate administration” remains firm and unwavering, describing it as the only viable solution for achieving lasting peace, dignity and self-governance. The organisation clarified that the demand is neither confrontational nor exclusionary, but a reasoned and democratic assertion of the right to live in safety with political and administrative structures that ensure protection, equity and meaningful representation.

Kuki Inpi Manipur further urged the Central Government to continue engaging with sincerity and sensitivity, taking into account the lived realities and legitimate concerns of the Kuki-Zo people while pursuing a resolution to the ongoing crisis.
