Tengnoupal: The Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal (KIT) district strongly refuted the claims made by the Additional Superintendent of Police Tengnoupal district Mr TS Chamna that he was fired upon by armed miscreants on October 12 while he was traveling with his escort personnel in a Gypsy vehicle. The KIT said that the claims of the Addl SP is a fake and concocted allegation so as to bring more state forces in Tengnoupal district.

Addl SP (Ops) TS Chamna had claimed that he was fired upon by the armed miscreants on October 12 evening following which some media houses had also flashed the news without verifying the claims. The spot is located between Twipi Mate(/Lokchao) village and Sibong Khudengthabi along Imphal-Moreh road.

A fact finding team of the KIT, along with the village chiefs of Twipi Mate/Lokchao and Sibong Khudengthabi village went to the spot and conducted a spot inquiry.
The KIT said that it had conducted spot enquiry and talked with nearby villages and SKV construction workers who worked at the said spot. KIT said that none of the nearby villagers and SKV workers heard sounds of gunshots. They also said that they had been using the section of NH for normal works and they had been working as usual, and that SKV workers and vehicles were also stationed at a few metre distance from the spot.
Questioning the motives and intentions of the Addl SP TS Chamna, the KIT spokesperson said that the state forces who are presently deployed in Moreh should leave Tengnoupal district and go back to the valley if they are coming to create fake and false propaganda to create problem in the district.

“They [police commando] should leave Tengnoupal district if they are coming with evil motives. If they are here to create more problems, if they are coming to destroy the hard-earned peace, they should go back to the valley,” K Haokip said.
The village chiefs of Twipi Mate and Sibong Khudengthabi also refuted the claims made by TS Chamna. The village chiefs said that “If any such ambush or gun firing occurred in the said area (as claimed by the Addl SP Ts Chamna), we would have surely heard the sounds of gunfire. We didn’t hear sounds of any gunshots, we also asked the SKV workers who were stationed just close to the said spot but they also said that they didn’t hear any gunfire and they continued their work as usual,” the village chiefs said.

Strongly condemning the fake claims made by the Addl SP, the Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal district said that it was stage-managed by Addl SP TS Chamna to bring in more state forces in Tengnoupal district and Moreh town to terrorise the people.
“The Kuki Inpi and the people of Tengnoupal district strongly condemn the evil intention and devil’s motive of TS Chamna. We also demand TS Chamna to tender apology as per customary practices to the village chiefs and people of Tengnoupal district,” the KIT spokesperson said.
The Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal district said that besides Assam Rifles, troops of BSF, Gorkha Regiment and AR were already deployed in Moreh and Tengnoupal district. Recently, personnel of Rapid Action Force (RAF) were also deployed in Moreh town. There are enough central forces to maintain law & order in the district. There’s no need to deploy additional state forces in Moreh and Tengnoupal district.

“The state forces particularly the police commando became a trouble maker and problem creator wherever and whenever they were deployed as they acted with communal motives. We have enough central forces including RAF and Assam Rifles, we don’t need police commando, we don’t need state forces,” K Haokip said.
