Ukhrul: The ten Kuki MLAs of Manipur State issued a joint statement on November 11, 2024, refuting recent claims presented before the Supreme Court of India by the Solicitor General, who had stated that Manipur’s Chief Minister, N. Biren Singh, was “meeting all Kuki MLAs and trying to bring the situation down to get peace.”
The MLAs called this assertion a “blatant lie” and expressed concern that it could mislead the Supreme Court. “We categorically state that this submission is a blatant lie and tantamount to misleading the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India,” the joint statement read.

The MLAs clarified that they had not met with Chief Minister N. Biren Singh since May 3, 2023, and had no intentions of doing so in the future. The statement further alleged that the Chief Minister was responsible for the continued violence and the “ethnic cleansing of our people from the Imphal valley.” Citing a recent incident, they condemned the killing and burning of Zosangkim Hmar, a Kuki woman, on November 7 in Jiribam district, allegedly at the hands of Meitei militias.
“We strongly condemn the barbaric killing of a defenseless woman by the Meitei militias in spite of heavy deployment of security forces in Jiribam district,” the MLAs stated. They also criticized the Solicitor General’s “unprofessional conduct” in presenting arguments without fact-checking.
