Ukhrul, July 5: The apex tribal body of the Kuki-Zo people, Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), has issued a unanimous resolution declaring that no Kuki-Zo Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) will participate in the formation of a new government in Manipur. The resolution follows a joint meeting of KIM and its federating units held on July 4 at the KIM Secretariat in Bijang, Lamka.

The memorandum, signed by General Secretary Khaikhohauh Gangte, outlines two key decisions:

  1. No Kuki-Zo MLAs shall participate or take part in any manner in the formation of a new popular government in Manipur.
  2. Under no circumstances shall the Kuki-Zo people compromise our ancestral land, cultural identity, and the political, social, and economic rights.

The resolution, described as the collective political will of the Kuki-Zo community, comes amid ongoing ethnic and political unrest in the state. It is binding on all Kuki-Zo representatives and community organisations, according to KIM.

KIM has called on all concerned, including political representatives and civil society bodies, to adhere strictly to the resolution “in letter and spirit.”
