Major Heroin Haul on Tiddim Road: 970 grams seized, two arrested

CHURACHANDPUR, NOV 19: In a joint operation conducted in the intervening night of 18-19 November 2025, a combined team of Churachandpur District Police, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Imphal, and 37 Assam Rifles intercepted two suspicious vehicles and recovered a large quantity of contraband heroin on Tiddim Road.

Acting on specific intelligence regarding movement of contraband items, the joint team mounted strict checking at Likhai village, Tiddim Road. At around 00:30 hrs on 19 November 2025, the following vehicles were intercepted:

  1. Yamaha R15 motorcycle bearing registration No. MN-06SD-1083
Rider: Shri David Sian Muan Lian (26 yrs)
S/o St. Paul Haukhanthang
R/o Headquarters Veng, Singngat, PO & PS – Singngat, Churachandpur District.
  2. Mahindra Bolero bearing registration No. MN04A-6964
Driver: Shri Nehgoumang (23 yrs)
S/o Shri Thiankhanlian
R/o Boljol village, Lamka, PO – Kangvai, PS – Churachandpur, Churachandpur District.

    Both individuals were served summons and brought to 37 Assam Rifles post at Khuga for detailed search in the presence of independent witnesses. Thorough checking of the Mahindra Bolero led to the recovery of 86 soap cases containing suspected heroin (total weight approximately 970.28 grams) concealed in the engine compartment.
    Preliminary field testing using Drug Testing Kit confirmed the substance to be Heroin. The contraband, both vehicles, and the following mobile phones belonging to the accused were seized:
  • Poco X7 Pro (SIM Nos. 6009705713 & 8414010327)
  • Redmi 10 5G (SIM No. 9863776614)

    Both accused persons have been placed under arrest. A regular case has been registered and investigation has been taken up by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Imphal.
