KANGPOKPI: The Makui Village Authority in Kangpokpi district has drawn the attention of the district administration and police to what it described as the circulation of “false, inflammatory and defamatory” statements about the village on social media.
In a statement, the village authority demanded that the Facebook pages Zalengam Times and CHIKIM-TE-AWGIN, along with the account M S Haokip (Kuki Ka Parivar), remove the alleged inflammatory posts and issue public apologies, failing which it said it would initiate appropriate legal action.

According to the village authority, a post by Zalengam Times reproduced a news clip originally posted by CHIKIM-TE-AWGIN, alleging that cadres of the NSCN-IM and ZUF-K were moving or patrolling in the Makui Thebram area of Kangpokpi district, while CRPF and CoBRA personnel were present nearby on September 25.
The authority also alleged that Laloi Kuki villagers set up illegal bunkers on the highway between Makui and Makui Thebram.
The village authority said the claims were based on a video allegedly recorded by an unidentified individual from the bunker showing a CoBRA team that had visited the area for inspection following the reported burning of Makui Thebram village on September 23.
It alleged that the incident was subsequently “twisted” and presented as propaganda by CHIKIM-TE-AWGIN before being further circulated by Zalengam Times.
The authority also objected to a post by M S Haokip (Kuki Ka Parivar), which it alleged claimed that the Superintendent of Police, Kangpokpi, had ordered Central forces stationed at Makui Naga village to open fire on Kuki villagers of Chaljang.
The Makui Village Authority termed the claim “misleading and defamatory” and objected to the alleged reference to Makui as a “Kachha Naga village,” describing the wording as derogatory and provocative.

The authority expressed concern that the SP, Kangpokpi, had reportedly been tagged in the post but alleged that no action had been taken by the police or district administration. It said the circulation of what it described as false and inflammatory information could further aggravate communal tensions between the two communities.
The Makui Village Authority urged the Kangpokpi district administration and the Office of the Superintendent of Police to take necessary action against the alleged dissemination of false, defamatory and communal content.
