UKHRUL: The United Naga Council (UNC) has announced the suspension of its ongoing economic blockade from 6 pm on Saturday, following an agreement reached during tripartite talks with the Government of India and the Government of Manipur in Guwahati.
UNC president Ng. Lorho said the decision followed the agreement reached during the tripartite meeting held in Guwahati.
The suspension, as per a notification issued on Saturday, will take effect from 6 pm on September 26, the notification stated.
The UNC also expressed appreciation for the cooperation and solidarity extended by various sections during the course of the agitation.

The development came a day after a UNC-led delegation of Naga civil organisations left Senapati for Assam to attend the tripartite talks scheduled for September 26. The delegation included representatives of the UNC, its working committee, All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM), Naga Women’s Union (NWU), Liangmai Naga Council (LNC), Rongmei Naga Council (RNC), Joint Tribe Council, Manipur (JTC-M) and Naga Peoples’ Organisation (NPO).
