Imphal: Amid the aggressive campaign of the ruling BJP, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is arriving in Imphal on Monday to take part in his party’s election campaign in the poll-bound Manipur.

Addressing a press conference at Imphal Congress Bhavan on Sunday, AICC election observer for Manipur, Jairam Ramesh said that Gandhi is arriving in the state on Monday.

Gandhi will address a Congress election rally in Imphal’s Hatta Kangjeibung, he said.

As per the tentative schedule of his visit, Rahul Gandhi will go straight to Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) office in Imphal’s BT Road from where he will proceed to Shahid Minar and Nupi Lan Complex and pay floral tributes to the “brave heroes” of the state.

Later, he will address a Congress election rally at Hatta Kangjeibung, Imphal.

Further speaking to the media, Ramesh confidently said that after the ensuing elections, Congress will form the government in Manipur while saying that “history repeats itself.”

“As history repeats itself, the Congress government will be installed in Manipur after the 2022 election and after 2014 at Centre,” he further said.

Jairam then said that the Congress came to power in the state in 2002 and it ruled for 15 years and the BJP rule at the Centre will come to an end in 2014 general elections to the Lok Sabha.

Ramesh termed the five year rule of BJP in the state as a dark period of Manipur. “The five years rule of the BJP in the state was misrule,” he said.

Taking part in the press conference, AICC’s Manipur in-charge, Bhakta Charan Das alleged the BJP of indulging in violence and organized crimes after knowing that the saffron party will suffer defeat in the elections.
