Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh today shared a picture on his Facebook profile where students were seen kneeling and bowing down as he walked past the red aisle.

The picture was posted with the caption, “I am really proud to see the culture and custom of the Manipuris. What a discipline”

The picture has gone viral, the online community has raised eyebrows for sharing the picture, opining it as an absurd caption. At the time of posting this post, the picture has been shared more than 679 times and has garnered more than 2.5K comments.

Most online netizens seem to have mixed feelings. Some are quite not impressed by the act, and calls it ‘shameful, and disgraceful’, while some defend it saying such was the tradition in ancient times.

Many also called out that it is not the tradition of the Manipuris. And to make things worst for Biren, commentators have observed that students kneeling and bowing down is not an act of showing respect and discipline but amounts to discrimination.
