Manipur CM N Biren visits Teinem village as part of outreach programme

Ukhrul: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today visited Teinem Village under Lungchong Maiphei Block of Ukhrul District to grace the State Government’s Community Outreach Programme organised by District Administration, Ukhrul at LM Block Office Complex. With this, he has become the first Chief Minister, who has visited the interior village located around 80 km from the State Capital. Rajya Sabha MP Maharaja Sanajaoba Leishemba and Loktak Development Authority Chairman L. Sushindro accompanied the Chief Minister.

During the historic visit, he inaugurated Lungchong Maiphei Police Outpost, a branch office of Manipur State Cooperative Bank Ltd., SDO/BDO Office and One Stop Centre (Sakhi) and fulfilled the long awaited wishes of the people for the last 30 years. He also distributed benefits under different schemes to selected beneficiaries.

Speaking on the occasion, N. Biren Singh stated that development of Manipur will only be possible when its villages develop, and added that a model village with basic infrastructures will be set up in every district so that different villages can use it as a reference for further development. The Chief Minister also announced that Kachai village of the district has been proposed to be set up as a model village considering its importance in the production of the renowned Kachai Lemon.

Asserting that his politics is purely based on humanitarian services, he added that there are lots of underdeveloped areas in far-flung areas of the State and his Government has been working hard to bring about inclusive and sustainable development in every nook and corner of the State and ease various problems faced by the people of Manipur irrespective of caste and region.

Stating that he had decided to visit the block after meeting and hearing the grievances from representatives of 28 villages, the Chief Minister added that he personally inquired the Deputy Commissioner about various grievances and requirements of LM Block and necessary actions were taken up to deliver all possible services during the visit.

Asserting that the hill districts of the State remained backward as the elected representative and concerned persons failed to provide the benefits to the people, N. Biren Singh reiterated that his aim is to visit every nook and corner of the State and deliver different benefits and services of the Government at the people’s doorsteps. He focuses only on developing the State and any political or social issue could be solved amicably through other means, he further added.

The Chief Minister appealed to the youth of the district to apply for Manipur StartUp Scheme and shared that the ‘Hill Wild’ King Chili chocolate of Ukhrul district which benefited under the scheme has become an international sensation.

Announcing that Rs. 26 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of worksheds, godowns and dryers under the Van Dhan Vikas Yojana of Tribal Co-operative Marketing Federation of India (TRIFED) which employs around 41,000 tribal women of Manipur, 46 nos. will be constructed in Ukhrul which is the highest in the State.

Stating that he has a target of making each district of the State self-sufficient in every field, he added that 2 nos. of PSA oxygen plants one each at Ukhrul and Somdal were already inaugurated, Ukhrul District Hospital has been upgraded to 100 bedded Hospital. Rs. 33 crore has also been sanctioned out of Rs. 65 crore for the development and upgradation of Pettigrew College, he added.

On his arrival in the village, the Chief Minister was given a rousing welcome by the District Administration and leaders and villagers of LM Block. Various organisations, Village Authorities and individuals also honoured him by presenting him gifts.
