Manipur Covid-19 daily tally drops to two

Imphal: Manipur on Saturday recorded a sudden drop of COVID-19 daily tally when only two fresh cases were detected in the last 24 hours.

This is the lowest single-day spike since July 1 that marked the beginning of the fourth wave of the pandemic in the state.

The two cases reported in Imphal West district alone took the COVID-19 infection tally of the state to 1,39,673 while the fatality toll remained at 2,146 as no death due to the disease reported on the day.

The two fresh cases were detected upon testing of 341 samples in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate was 0.6%, the latest bulletin of the state health department said.

On the other hand, the COVID-19 Common Control Room said that five patients were discharged after completion of surveillance on the day. All of them were from home isolation.

It took the recovery tally of the state to 1,37,444. The state has 83 active cases at present. The recovery rate is 98.40%.

Meanwhile, the doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in the state rose to 31,69,785 with 2,022 more people being vaccinated on Friday.

The number of people jabbed with the first dose rose to 16,27,883 while 13,01,663 of them had taken the second dose till date. The number of people who received the precautionary dose also rose to 2,40,239, the bulletin added.
