Manipur DGP Submits Detailed report on Recent Incidents to Guv

Imphal: Director General of Police, Manipur Rajiv Singh called on the Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Thursday evening and apprised the prevailing security situation in Manipur.

Press note from Raj Bhavan informed that the DGP submitted a detailed report on the recent incidents and briefed the Governor about his visit to Churachandpur district post February 15 incidents.

Cases of extortion from the general public and transporter associations were also discussed and Governor asked the DGP to take stringent action against those involved in the act and to maintain free and safe passage of vehicles in the Highways.

The DGP also assured the Governor that Manipur Police has been working dedicatedly for the safety and security of people of Manipur.

Taking serious note of the recent incidents, Governor said, it is high time that people should realize that there are few self styled organisations both in hill and valley districts which are misleading the local populace by creating false propaganda from time to time and urged the people to understand the pivotal role played by Manipur Police in safeguarding the lives and properties of the people. Governor appealed to the people to co-operate the Police in maintaining law and order in the State.

Meanwhile, the Manipur Legislative Assembly on Thursday unanimously resolved to urge the Central Government to completely abrogate the Suspension of Operation truce with all the Kuki-Zo militant groups.

Chief minister N Biren Singh said that the “decision comes in the interest of ensuring peace and security in the region.”
