Manipur Discontinues Curfew

In a significant move on Saturday, Manipur state cabinet resolved to discontinue curfew in the state to maintain balance in livelihood and economic activities, and to adopt micro containment zone approach in line with Centre advisories has resolved to discontinue curfew in the state.

The decision to this effect was taken on State’s Cabinet meeting held on Saturday.

The cabinet in its meeting expressed “gratitude to the Centre for promptly deputing a Multi Disciplinary Expert Team” on COVID 19 to Manipur, in response to the state’s request, stated a release issued by Health department.

It then stated that the state Cabinet carefully reviewed the curfew imposed for 21 days to control Covid 19 in the state.

Saturday’s meeting also resolved that gram panchayats, village authorities, local clubs, etc will be fully engaged by deputy commissioners in ensuring strict micro containment zones and isolation of fresh positive cases, it further added.

The health department, meanwhile, has requested the general public to adopt COVID appropriate behaviour to fully control the spread of infection in Manipur.
