Manipur logs 155 new COVID-19 cases, no death

Imphal: Even as no COVID-19 related death was reported today in Manipur, a surge in the daily infections of the disease continued as the state reported 155 fresh COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

The 155 fresh cases took the overall infection count to 1,26,705 while the death toll remained at 2,012 with no fatality reported on the day.

The daily test positivity rate also remained above 5% as it stood at 5.7% as the fresh cases were detected upon testing of 2,610 samples.

Of the 155 fresh cases, 100 of them were from the general population while 55 were personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), the latest bulletin of the state health department said.

The active cases in the state surged to 857 as only 24 patients were discharged upon recovery on the day, taking the recovery count of the state to 1,23,836.

The recovery rate dropped to 97.74 % from the previous day’s 97.83%.

Imphal West continued to share the maximum number of fresh cases among the general population as the district reported 28 new cases.

Churachandpur district followed closely with 27 new cases while only 12 cases reported in Imphal East district.

Chandel reported 12 cases, seven in Thoubal, six in Ukhrul, four in Bishnupur, two in Senapati and one each in Kakching and Noney.

On the other hand, with the state starting administering precautionary doses of COVID-19, a total of 2,776 eligible people were inoculated with the precautionary doses on Wednesday.

Till Wednesday, a total 23,70,059 doses including 13,52,819 first doses and 10,14,455 second doses were administered in the state.
