Manipur logs yet another highest single-day COVID-19 spike with 757 fresh cases

Manipur recorded yet another highest single-day spike of COVID-19 cases with 757 to push the overall COVID-19 infection number to 43,322 on Saturday. All the 757 fresh cases were from the general populace with a maximum of 336 from Imphal West and 141 from Imphal East district.

The state also recorded 13 more COVID-19 related deaths in the same period to take the death t0 674.

Of the 13 deaths, six were reported in Imphal West while four in Imphal East and one each in Churachandpur, Kakching and Thoubal districts.

According to the Health department, Manipur has tested a total of 6,78,808 samples.
Meanwhile, the recovery tally also rose to 36,258 with 652 more patients discharged in the last 24 hours, leaving 6390 active cases with 83.69% recovery rate in the state.

Among other less affected districts, Churachandpur recorded the highest number of fresh cases with 82, followed by Bishnupur with 54 cases. In Kakching district 48 fresh cases were reported while 31 in Kamjong and 25 in Thoubal.

Senapati reported 14, nine in Tamenglong, five each in Kangpokpi and Chandel, three in Ukhrul and two in Noney district.

Meanwhile, Manipur lost yet another young doctor due to COVID-19 related complications.
The woman doctor, Kh Ranjita, breathed her last in a hospital in Imphal where she struggled for life since she was diagnosed with the viral infections on May 16 last.

The mother of a three-year-old son had earlier lost her mother due to COVID-19 related complications. 

With this update, the state has lost three doctors while fighting the dreaded second wave of COVID-19.
