Manipur Police Nab Two With Drugs under Churachandpur Police Station

Imphal, Jan 6: Security forces arrested two persons for allegedly possessing WY tablets and brown sugar in Manipur’s Churachandpur district.

The drugs were carried in a four-wheeler from Khuga, Matta village under Churachandpur Police Station on Sunday, according to a police report. 

The arrested were identified as Thangkhanlam (45) and Mangliankhup (32), the police report said.

From their possession, 60 soap cases of brown sugar weighing 776 gm,  537 WY tablets weighing 60 gm, and one four-wheeler were recovered, police further said. 

In a separate incident, Manipur Police arrested one-armed man who was allegedly involved in carrying out extortion activities in the Kakching area of Kakching district. 

A police report identified the arrested as Johnson Singh from Kakching.

On Sunday, security forces continued search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.

Movement of 331 vehicles carrying essential items along National Highway 2 was ensured, Manipur Police also said in a report. 

Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoys are provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of vehicles, it said.

A total of 106 checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hills and the valley and no one was detained by police in connection with violations, the police report added.
