Manipur: Security Intensifies Ahead of Arambai Tenggol’s Meeting with Valley Legislators

Imphal: Following an invitation from Arambai Tenggol to hold a conference of all valley MPs, security arrangements tightened in and around Kangla area of Imphal on Tuesday.

According to the security arrangement order issued by Imphal West police SP, Arambai Tengol stated that the meeting aims to make concrete decisions regarding the ongoing issues.

Scheduled for January 24 at 10 am at Kangla Uttra, the meeting has invited all Meitei ministers and MLAs, including the chief minister of Manipur. Non-attendance has been warned to be treated as opposition to the Meitei community.

Furthermore, they intend to enter Kangla with weapons before the programme.

To prevent any potential disruptions during the expected large gathering, the Manipur government has implemented specialized security measures.

Beyond the deployment of security forces, police officers, and their teams are stationed at all gates of Kangla fort, along with police personnel deployed inside the gate, according to an official source.

In a separate development, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) officials arrived in Manipur to engage in talks with Kuki and Meitei communities for restoration of peace. The MHA officials’ initial meeting was held with Arambai Tenggol upon their arrival.
