Imphal: Firing in Bishnupur and Churachandpur adjoining areas enters 5th day today in violence hit Manipur state. Heavy firing was reported at Naransena area, the same village area violence erupted on August 29.

One Meitei Village Volunter was reportedly injured today. He was taken to District Hospital Bishnupur.
According to Newmai News Network, gunfight between armed groups also erupted in Imphal West District and Kangpokpi district border even as the cross firing at some places along the Bishnupur-Churachandpur border entered fifth day on Saturday.

Reports said that armed miscreants launched a heavy attack at Singda and Kadangban villages of Imphal West district bordering Kangpokpi district early this morning. Reports said firing amid shelling of bombs and mortar from the hill side started around 4.30 am and village volunteers guarding the villages returned the firing. The heavy exchange of fire that ensued was continuing till this late evening even as security forces intervened to repel the warring groups, NNN reported.
