Another local Meira Paibi said, “We are doing what the security forces are unable to do, in checking vehicles to maintain peace and harmony.”

The Union Government has sent thousands of Indian Armed Forces to our state to maintain peace, however, instead of sincerely working for all the people hit by the conflict, they [security forces] are working in tandem with the Kuki militants. This is the reason why the Maira Paibis are out on the road checking vehicles to ensure if these vehicles are used to transport weapons to arm the militants, said another local Meira Paibi in the valley.
