Manipur’s COVID-19 related death toll rises to 91

Three deaths during the last 24 hours pushed Manipur’s COVID-19 fatality toll to 91, an official report of the state Health department said on Sunday.

The report said that three COVID-19 patients aged 64 (female from Imphal West), 70 (female from Churachandpur) and 87 (male from Imphal East) expired at RIMS, home and JNIMs hospitals respectively during the last 24 hours. This latest update took the cumulative number of deaths due to the viral infections to 91, it added.

State’s COVID-19 infection count also increased to 13,326 with the confirmation of 234 new positive cases during the testing of 3,355 samples during the last 24 hours, the official report added.

Twelve of the 234 new cases are personnel of Central security forces while of the 222 new cases are from among the general population, while only of them are returnees from other states.

The state has currently 2731 active cases of COVID-19 being treated at various Covid care facilities as 10,504 persons have so far recovered from the viral infections. Among them, 198 persons were discharged on Sunday. 

The recovery rate of the state stands at 78.82%.
