New Delhi: The 23-year-old Indian tennis sensation, Jennifer Luikham of Manipur’s Ukhrul on Sunday won the $25,000 UTR Pro Tennis Tour (PTT) event in New Delhi to become the first player to win a PTT crown in India.
Jennifer Luikham beat 17-year-old Suhitha Maruri 6-3, 6-3 to win the UTR Pro $25,000 women’s tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex, Delhi. She won all six of her matches capturing her first-ever pro tennis title in her PTT debut.

Jennifer Luikham at 23 now, who was ranked 994 worldwide in the Indian women singles category is now placed at WTA ranking No. 721. She trains at the RoundGlass Tennis Academy in Chandigarh and is considered one of the hottest prospects in Indian tennis.
Jennifer Luikham was quoted saying, “It’s been a splendid week; I am happy that I have finally won the UTR tournament. It’s my first, and to win the first, it’s an amazing feeling,” Luikham said. “I think it’s a brilliant way of bringing some of the top players together to play one another and have some great match practice which is rewarded with prize money as well.”

It may be mentioned that Jennifer Luikham of Ukhrul in October 2021 was defeated by Luksika Kumkhum of Thailand, Asian Games champion at the ITF women’s tennis at Monastir, Tunisia 6-2, 6-2, finishing runner-up on October 24, 2021.
