Martin M Danggo resigns from BJP

Shillong: Former Ranikor legislator, Martin M Danggo today resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

In a letter to the BJP Meghalaya state president, Rikman G Momin, Danggo said, “I do hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership of the state Bharatiya Janata Party on personal grounds.”

Danggo had joined the BJP ahead of the 2023 Assembly election after he was declared official candidate of the ruling National People’s Party (NPP). He was defeated by Pius Marwein.

The former five-time legislator had also resigned as Congress MLA in 2018 and joined the NPP, after the MDA-1 government had upgraded Ranikor block to a full fledged Civil Subdivision. He was defeated by Marwein during the by- election held in that same year.
