CHANDEL: As part of the Integrated IEC Campaign 3.0 under District Integrated Strategy For HIV/AIDS being observed from 12th August, 2026-12th October, 2026, a mass rally was held in Chandel on Friday under the theme ‘Together for an HIV/AIDS Free Society’.
The rally from DC Office Complex to SDO Office was held under NACO and sponsored by Manipur AIDS Control Society (MACS). The rally, held with an aim to spread awareness on HIV/AIDS, also called for regular testing.
Addressing the rally, Mamoni Doley IAS, DC Chandel, called for regular testing. The DC said people should be informed and made aware about the disease and the free testing facilities.
She said people with HIV/AIDS are living a healthy life with proper testing and medication. Even pregnant women are being asked to take test mandatorily, the DC said and expressed hope that all guidelines from NACO are being followed.
The DC further called for regular testing and expanding the rally to a bigger stage by spreading awareness among students especially in colleges.
Dr. B. Cingdeihnieng, District AIDS Control Officer, Chandel-Tengnoupal said the rally is being held to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS as the disease is highly prevalent in the district.

Adding that there are 610 individuals alive on ART in Chandel alone, the Doctor called for regular testing for HIV/AIDS.
She also asserted that HIV/AIDS has nothing to do with one’s character as one can also be infected during blood transfusion. She also maintainted that one can be punished under law for discriminating people living with the disease.
The rally was attended by over 100 individuals including NGOs and Nongthongbam Ingocha, SDPO Chandel among others.
