Ukhrul/Agartala: Setting a new benchmark for rural health services, four sub-health centres across Meghalaya have been officially recognised for excellence by the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), earning the coveted “Quality Certification” under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS).
The certified health facilities—AAM SHC Bolchugre and AAM SHC Waram Songma (West Garo Hills), AAM SHC Phlangdiloin (South West Khasi Hills), and AAM SHC Umsong (Ri Bhoi)—successfully met all seven mandatory service packages and scored impressively in the external quality assessment conducted between April 4 and April 15, 2025.

According to the official certification letter from NHSRC, the centres scored as follows:
All four centres were declared “Quality Certified” after fulfilling the strict assessment criteria, covering infrastructure, service delivery, patient safety, infection control, and community outreach efforts.
The National Health Mission, Meghalaya, celebrated this achievement through an official social media announcement, hailing it as a moment of pride for the state.
“This achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of our healthcare teams in delivering high-quality, patient-centric services to the people of Meghalaya,” the post read. It also acknowledged the tireless efforts of MLHPs, ANMs, and ground-level health staff.

The National Quality Certification under NQAS not only validates current service standards but also encourages facilities to continually improve. The State Quality Assurance Unit is tasked with monitoring the progress in recommended improvement areas through regular surveillance audits.
