Meghalaya reports 103 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday

Shillong, Sep 20: Meghalaya reported 103 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, taking the tally of active cases in the state to 2,111.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said that 78 cases were detected in East Khasi Hills which include 3 health workers, 38 high risk contacts, 1 ILI case, 1 returnee 3 armed and paramilitary forces (A/PF) personnel and 32 cases from the clusters within the city (9 Mawprem, 4 Barapathar, 4 Nongmynsong, 3 Laban, 3 Kench’s Trace, 3 Rilbong, 3 Police Bazaar, 2 Keating Road and 1 from Jhalupara)

While in Ri Bhoi there are 14 cases which include 6 high risk contacts, 7 from the cluster in Umsong and 1 A/PF. The 7 cases from West Garo Hills comprise of 4 A/PF, 2 high risk and a returnee), in West Khasi Hills 3 cases were detected which include a high risk and 2 returnees and a returnee tested positive in South West Garo Hills.

Dr. War also informed that 30 more patients have also recovered from the viral infection and they include 25 from West Garo Hills, 4 from Ri Bhoi and 1 from East Khasi Hills. 

The state has recorded a total of 4,660 COVID-19 positive cases of which 2,111 are active cases while 2,513 have recovered and 36 deaths. 

East Khasi Hills, where the state capital is located continue to be the worst affected district in the State with over 1,510 active cases (1,271 civilians and 239 A/PF), followed by East Jaintia Hills with 275 cases, 142 in Ri Bhoi, 123 in West Garo Hills, 17 in South West Garo Hills, 13 in West Khasi Hills, 9 in West Jaintia Hills, 8 in South Garo Hills, 6 in South West Khasi Hills, 5 in East Garo Hills and 3 in North Garo Hills.
