Meghalaya reports 5 new COVID-19 cases on Monday

Only five new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Meghalaya today, the lowest figure in months.

However, it should be noted that few tests are carried out over the weekends, the results of which are reported on Mondays.

Meanwhile, there were 72 new recoveries and no new fatalities from the disease.

Of the new cases, three were in East Khasi Hills and one each in Ri-Bhoi and West Garo Hills.

The recoveries were divided between East Khasi Hills (57), West Jaintia Hills (eight), South Garo Hills (three), Ri-Bhoi (two), North Garo Hills (one) and South West Garo Hills (one).

In all, Meghalaya has had 13,258 Covid-19 cases, of which 432 are active, 12,692 have recovered and 134 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has increased to 95.73 percent. The fatality rate is 1.01 percent.

The Health Department also informed that around 1,800 Covid-19 tests were carried out in the state in the last 24 hours.
