Shillong, July 4: Meghalaya will now check and monitor the health of livestock entering the state.

Minister in charge of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, AL Hek, informed today that construction of two check-posts in Ri Bhoi and Garo Hills will be completed soon to ensure health monitoring of livestock entering Meghalaya from outside.

“The check-posts will examine whether animals are fit for consumption,” Hek told reporters, adding that standard operating procedures are already in place.
