IMPHAL/UKHRUL: The Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress on Saturday took out a protest march under its “Meri Degree Ka Kya?”campaign, demanding immediate recruitment to vacant government posts and a transparent and fair recruitment process for unemployed youth.
The march started from Congress Bhavan and proceeded towards the Chief Minister’s bungalow. Police and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel stopped the protesters near the bungalow and, according to Youth Congress leaders, forced and pushed them back from the gate.

The protesters, however, continued towards the Chief Minister’s bungalow and reached the area near the gate before being pushed back by security personnel. They later returned to Congress Bhavan, where the march had started.
Addressing reporters, Tarh Johny, National General Secretary of the All India Youth Congress, claimed that more than 50,000 government posts are lying vacant in Manipur, and questioned why the vacant posts were not being filled to provide employment opportunities to the state’s youth.
Johny said the present protest was only the “first step” and warned that the Youth Congress would continue its agitation if the government failed to address the demands of unemployed youth.

The Youth Congress demanded the immediate filling of all vacant government posts, a fixed annual recruitment calendar, and reduction of recruitment application fees to ₹1.
It also called for effective laws to ensure transparent and fair recruitment and demanded an end to contractual hiring in government jobs.
The march was participated in by Tarh Johny, Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress president Anand, and other Youth Congress members and supporters.
