Minister Khashim Vashum Inaugurates Machew Park and UDISSA Meet at Ngainga

Ukhrul: Minister of Transport, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, government of Manipur, Khashim Vashum on Wednesday inaugurated the Machew Park at Ngainga and also attended the opening ceremony of the 74th sports and literary meet of Ukhrul District Inter-School Sports Association (UDISSA) as chief guest at Ngainga village, Ukhrul district, Manipur. 

While inaugurating the Machew Park at Ngainga, minister Khashim Vashum called upon the congregation to preserve nature and the beauty of the beautiful surroundings. “Let us all contribute to maintaining and beautifying Machew Park for our future posterity,” added Khashim Vashum, and promised to extend Rs 2 lakhs for the beautification of the park under the MLALAD Fund.

Khashim Vashum also lauded the initiative taken up by the Ngainga Youth Club and stated that “it will surely be a spot for tourist attraction. Whoever visits this place will have a sweet and lasting memory.”

In addition, Khashim Vashum informed that the Cabinet meeting of the Manipur government will take place at the Ukhrul headquarters on 18 October 2023 and hinted that CM is likely to launch many developmental projects for the welfare of the people of Ukhrul district.

“Sprawling over 12 acres, the picturesque park construction started in 2018 with contributions from Yarnao (8 peer groups) of Ngainga village” informed Chipemyo Marei, president of the Ngainga youth club. He also acknowledged the contribution made by minister Khashim Vashum and ex-ADC member, Kapangpam Zimik, who also attended the inauguration programme as guest of honour.

In a different event, minister Khashim Vashum attended the opening ceremony of the 74th Sports Cum Literary Meet of UDISSA as chief guest at Ngainga ground. ZEO of Ukhrul, Thaimei Badan was the guest of honour. 

Minister Khashim Vashum while lighting the flame reminded the students participants that “the sports meet is being organised to inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship and for good health. Fire is the symbol of sincerity, purity and unity. Let the flame unite us in one spirit and wish all participants the best of luck.”

President of UDISSA, Victor Phungshok stated that “UDISSA was defunct for more than 10 years and was revived in 2022. Let us continue to pray for the success of UDISSA.”

13 schools from the area are participating in the sports meet. The schools are Ngainga High School, Blesso Montessori School, Phalee, Saint Joseph School, Talui, Sirarakhong Model English School, Teinem Baptist English School, Talui Elite Christian School, ELIM School, Tashar, Thotchan Baptist English School, Kachai, Reichumhao Memorial Residential Academy, Somdal, Somdal Ningkhalem Higher Secondary School, Leisan High School, Alpha Christian High School, Kachai and Tuinem High School

Various schools from the area will be competing in football, volleyball, high jump, long jump, essay writing, painting and extempore speech and will conclude on 16 October 2023.
