Miscreants torch Kuki village under Kamjong Dist on June 1

Kamjong: At least 32 houses of Natyang (Kuki) village under Kasom Khullen Sub-Division, Kamjong District was razed to ashes on Thursday morning. According to sources, the incident occurred around 6:30 am when the village was torched by unknown miscreants carrying weapons in civilian clothes.

Of the 32 houses torched included Church office of Natyang village, Anganwadi Centre, upper primary school, Village Authority office among others, sources said.

Sources also informed that another Kuki village N Mollen under Kangpokpi District was also torched around the same time. The village is in close proximity with Natyang village, around 4 Km apart. All the houses were also reportedly burnt in N Mollen village.

Sources also confirmed that the incident in N Mollen village claimed two casualties, a man and woman on Thursday morning, while two others sustained injury. One of the injured sustained bullet injury on the leg.

Kasom Police Station, under Kamjong District has lodged a suo moto First Information Report (FIR) over the incident. The bodies of the two are kept in the morgue, sources added.
