SENAPATI: More than 300 trucks, buses, and wingers have remained stranded for the past four days along National Highway-2 between Khongnem and T. Khullen in Manipur’s Senapati district following a sudden total shutdown called by the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) on May 13.
The shutdown has brought all movement along the highway to a complete standstill, leaving drivers, passengers, and transport workers trapped for days under increasingly difficult conditions. With no clear resolution in sight, those stranded are reportedly facing acute shortages of food, drinking water, essential supplies, and sanitation facilities.
Passengers and elderly travelers are reportedly enduring significant hardship as access to basic necessities continues to dwindle. Transport operators have also expressed concern over the prolonged disruption, warning that the situation could worsen if immediate assistance is not provided.
Affected individuals have appealed to the authorities for urgent intervention to restore normal movement along the highway and ensure safe passage for stranded vehicles and commuters. NH-2 is a vital transportation corridor in the region, and the ongoing blockade has severely impacted the movement of goods and people.
