Model Residential School, Mantri Pantha, celebrates 1st Foundation Day

Chandel, April 15: Model Residential School (MRS), Mantri Pantha in Chandel district celebrated its first foundation day on Tuesday at the school’s premises with great pomp and gaiety.

The celebration was attended by L. NandaKumar Singh IAS, DC, Chandel as the chief guest who encouraged the students and the teachers to take the school forward. Moreover, as the Chairman of the School Management Committee, MRS, he said that observing such events would be meaningless if students did not put their heart and soul in their studies.

Citing the example of Thomas Alva Edison, the DC also advised the students to obey their parents and take their studies seriously. He also advised them on body structures and postures while studying, which are vital for students. Starting that the teachers of MRS are all well qualified, he called on the students to take advantage of the situation and excel in their studies.

As the guest of honour, Md. Firoz Khan, MCS, Addl. DC/ CEO, ADC, Chandel spoke on the difficulties and challenges faced by the school over the past one year. Running a school is not a simple task but this MRS has been running successfully due to the collective effort of all stakeholders. He also said that running the school successfully lies with the teachers, management and the authorities.

Stating that the Model Residential School was established with the aim to make it a model for all remaining schools in Manipur and make it the best, the CEO, ADC called on all teachers and students to work hard and turn that aim into a reality. He also said that the MRS was established based on JNV, Sainik School, etc. and expressed hope that it would be affiliated to the CBSE in the next 2-3 years.

Y. Hemchandra Singh, ZEO, Chandel credited all stakeholders including former DC of Chandel, Rajkumar Mayanglambam for successfully establishing the Model Residential School in Chandel.

Stating that school has one of the best infrastructures in the state, he said that teaching is one of the noblest professions. He further said that the future of the nation lies in the hands of the teachers and that if they are sincere in their work, students will also be able to fulfill their dreams.

Shilshi William Lamkang, principal, MRS, Chandel and also functional president of the celebration highlighted the difficulties and achievements of the school and called on the concerned authorities for filling up the vacant posts.

The event was also marked by a series of items such as cultural dances, Manipuri dances, recitation of school poetry by the students, etc.

Also attended by Langhu Mojesh, AI, ZEO Chandel; Rev Simon, Pastor, Mantri Pantha Baptist Church; Bemong Shilshi, Chief, Mantri Pantha village,the event show Jackie, PGT-Physics giving the welcome address while Miss Blaise, TGT-Science giving the vote of thanks.

The dignitaries present lit the candle earlier in the programme to begin the event.

Model Residential School, Mantri Pantha was formally inaugurated by the then CM Biren Singh on January 15, 2024 while becoming fully operational since April 15, 2024. Currently the school has 116 students from Class 6-10 with a balanced composition of 50% girl students in the class.
